It is far too easy for young men -- teenage boys, really -- to grow bored when stuck indoors discussing government theory and regional histories. Especially when the day they are stuck indoors during is bright and sunny, warm with the beginnings of summer.

Edmund may love learning, but he can't keep his attention from roving to the window, watching a small songbird hop along the outer sill. Eventually he heaves a huge sigh and pushes his books back from him. "In all my years as king, this has never grown more interesting," he says softly, looking over at Caspian and knowing his lover feels much the same. "And besides, we already know all of this. If we absolutely must study it then perhaps we should do so later in the evening, and not let this day go to waste?"

He looks over at the window again. The songbird is serenading them now, perched on the ivy and swaying in the gentle breeze, and the sunlight shines through the stained glass window to cast brilliant prisms of light on the stone floor.

"You are a terrible influence on me, King Edmund," Caspian says with a smirk, pushing away his own books and rising from his chair. "Race you to the stream!" he cries, and runs from the room with Edmund on his heels, their joyous laughter echoing down the stone corridors.
