Edmund has discovered that he loves the sea. The salt spray in his face, the startlingly fresh air, the gentle rocking motion of the Dawn Treader as they travel along the waves. Everything is exhilarating and he spends his days busy but happy.

Of course, the occasional storm turns that exhilaration into terror, and the encounter with a genuine sea monster isn't anything he ever wants to repeat, but overall the journey is filled with far more pleasure than distress.

Especially at night, when he and Caspian are alone in their small cabin, with the gentle rocking of the boat making the hammock they lie in swing slowly back and forth. Even with the awkwardness of the close quarters and the risk of being dumped unceremoniously onto the deck, he loves lying in the hammock with the prince, warm hands stroking over soft skin. Sometimes they talk softly of their plans for the future, sometimes they simply kiss each other everywhere they can reach until they're both breathless and flushed. Sometimes they stroke each other to completion and whisper of what they will do once they're back at home, suggestions of wicked things that make Edmund blush at how eager he is.

The sea rocks them gently, until they fall asleep in each other's arms, happy and very much in love.

Edmund has discovered that in Narnia, he can feel the textures of things more intensely than he ever could back in England. He isn't really sure if he imagines it, or if it might be real, but he thinks it might have started the first time he felt Aslan's thick, lush mane. And ever since then, he's noticed that everything seems to be more intense and more real, from the tastes of the food to the beautiful vistas stretched out across their land, to the textures of everything he touches.

He loves the feel of fine material against his skin: the soft silk and plush velvet of their court finery, the softest spun cotton of their summer wear, and even the lush fur he bundles himself in during winter.

When he and Caspian head out riding, the soft buttery leather of the riding equipment surprises him -- he's used to the utilitarian harness of Mrs. MacReady's cart horse, not something that feels almost like a dream. And then there's the leather binding the huge volumes of histories and laws and magic -- again soft, but surprisingly smooth under his fingers. The parchment and paper of the pages is crisp, with hardly any tooth to catch a pen or pencil. The edges of the pages are deckled and edged in gold powder, and the illuminated pages have raised lines and dots of gold and silver that he can feel when he brushes a clean finger over them.

But the textures he likes the best are those of his lover's silky hair brushing against his warm skin and his soft lips kissing trails up and down his body. The feel of a hand calloused from sword-play rubbing up his side or over his torso and the feel of warm soft skin under his own hands as he explores all of his lover's sensitive places. Lean muscles strong against his own and hot silk over iron hardness pressed against his own aching hardness. He smiles and presses a kiss against Caspian's neck, then laughs softly. "I love the way you feel against me," he breathes, and the gentle gust of Caspian's breath against his own skin sends a delicious shiver through him.
